Celebrity Traitors episode six: The biggest banishment yet rocks the castle but a storm is brewing

It was the mother of all cliffhangers. Again. “Tonight’s going to work out a little differently,” smirked Winkleman. She wasn’t kidding. Three potential murder victims – Mohammed, Garraway and Lucy Beaumont – received scrolls summoning them back to the chessboard, where one would be murdered face-to-face.

As they took a torchlit procession to learn their fate, the melodrama was delicious. In her beret and belted mac, Garraway seemed to be dressed as Michelle “of the Résistance” Dubois from ‘Allo ‘Allo!, but I fear for Beaumont. Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once…

Key castle stats

Best moment: We’ve seen that giant Traitors statue before, but its sinister movements still have the power to chill – not least when they mean murder.

Best quote: An increasingly cross Claudia telling the fumbling Faithfuls: “You are breaking my heart. You’re not getting it. What are you not seeing? Open your eyes, please, because there is no let-up. Another Faithful will be murdered tonight. Sleep well – if you can.”

Best Traitor: Below-the-radar Cat Burns continues to play a masterful game as both her conclave colleagues come under increasing scrutiny.

Best Faithful: The two Joes have been replaced by M&M, Marler and Mohammed.

Winkleman wardrobe watch: That funnel-necked brown jumper with raggedy collar-and-cuffs at breakfast was a contender but eclipsed late on by her black velvet embellished dress for Round Table.

Prize pot: A full £5,000 was won, meaning the prize fund stands at a respectable £43,500 out of a possible £56,000 for the winner’s chosen charity.

Body count: A casualty-heavy episode with two banishments and one murder. It’s now three Traitors versus only six Faithfuls – and soon to be five. The scales are tipping worryingly.

Next up: An agonising six days to wait until episode seven, effectively the quarter-final. Next Wednesday at 9pm, bridges are built and lies are told. Meet you back here to break down all the Ardross action.
