HOLLYOAKS has aired its darkest ever late night episode with horrifying rape and murder scenes.
The Channel 4 soap celebrated its 30th anniversary tonight with a Brookside crossover that featured three deaths.

Viewers watched serial killer Jez Blake get torn to pieces in a spinning plane propeller, Grace Black bleed out after getting shot by her sister Clare Devine and Mercedes McQueen losing her unborn baby.
But the late night special topped it all with some of the darkest scenes Hollyoaks has ever aired.
In disturbing scenes policeman Dodger Savage was brutally beaten and raped by gangsters with a beaten and bloodied Donny – who was revealed as Brookside character Mick Johnson under witness protection – watched.
Harrowing scenes saw dodger beg Mick for help as he was assaulted.

In a further horrifying twist it was revealed that Mick’s daughter Gemma – who is played by actress Tisha Merry in the soap – had orchestrated the entire thing.
She had seduced Warren Fox in an effort to rob him of his illegal diamonds and he was sent off to get them while the thugs terrorised Dodger and Donny.
When he returned they slipped up by admitting they knew about the diamonds, which he hadn’t mentioned to any of them, only insisting he could get money for them.
As Warren released them, Donny was furious and went after them with Warren backing him up.
They raced to catch-up to them and ran them off the road, causing a major car accident.
However the cars smashed into Ste Hay in the street while he was in the middle of confessing his feelings towards son Lucas’ boyfriend Dillon – leaving them both for dead.
And when Donny got out of the car he found one of the thugs trying to escape and took his revenge – beating him to death in the street.
The Channel 4 soap has worked with charity We Are Survivors on the hard-hitting storyline.

“Danny [Mac] is an absolute joy to work with. The care and respect he has shown us at We Are Survivors, shown me as a survivor, and given to the story has resulted in an incredible and realistic portrayal of male victimhood and following survivorship.
“I know that viewers will feel so much for Dodger and survivors will want to stand by him in solidarity. Danny has given us that”
Talking about the storyline, Danny Mac added: “There was a massive duty of care to get the storyline right and we worked with We Are Survivors [A charity supporting male survivors of sexual abuse and rape].
“I’ve felt very emotionally attached to this storyline and the people we are speaking to and for. It has been a real journey.

“Hollyoaks have explored similar storylines before. There is something about the way this story is going to be explored.
“It is definitely going to be a new version of what is unfortunately an age-old horrific event. It’s a character no one would be expecting it to happen to. No one will see this coming.”
