Strictly Come Dancing’s Katya Jones has spoken out on “cheating” allegations after fans accused the dancer of giving her partner a “secret signal”.
During Saturday (November 29) night’s live show, bosses introduced a new challenge titled Instant Dance Challenge, which saw the celebrities given the style, song and wardrobe just minutes before their performance.
They had to run off quickly to get changed, but they had no time to decide what they were going to do. The rules were that they had ten seconds to plan the performance once they were on the dance floor.
Katya, 36 and Emmerdale’s Lewis Cope, 30, took on a tricky Jive but some viewers claimed they cheated after eagle-eyed fans saw the couples discuss their routine before performing.

As Katya and Lewis stood on the stairs the professional dancer recreated a move with her arm and leg to Lewis.
However during an appearance on The One Show on Tuesday (December 2) night alongside hosts Alex Jones and Lauren Laverne as well as partner Lewis, Katya spoke out on the moment as she issued a three-word response and insisted: “It was fate”.
Alex was quick to ask: “The Instant Dance Challenge that happened on Saturday. None of us have ever seen that before so how was it for you?”

Lewis admitted: “For me personally it was more exciting than doing the main dance because anything could happen it was brilliant TV and it was really fun.”
Katya jumped in and said: “Well it’s never happened on Strictly before so none of us knew how it was going to go down. It was fate, they couldn’t tell us what song and dance we were doing so it was a little bit messy.”
“On the night, me and Nikita [Kuzmin] were talking and said I have not experienced an overwhelming joy from dancing like that for a very long time.”
She added: “It’s a huge testament to the celebrities who have been learning for all these weeks and finally demonstrating on the spot that they can dance on the spot as our equal partners. It was really wonderful.”
In a heartfelt moment, Lewis said: “I don’t think I was quite ready for how much joy dancing was going to bring to me and not just the performing but the rest of my life.”
“I can’t really imagine my life without dancing. It has changed my life massively and it’s got me buzzing.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday at 6.55pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
