6.1-magnitude earthquake shakes northwestern Turkey, felt in Greece

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck northwestern Turkey Monday, the country’s disaster management agency reported.
The tremor, with a depth of roughly 10 kilometers, hit the Sindirgi district in Balikesir province and was felt across parts of Greece, including the island of Lesvos, 146 kilometers away.
Residents in Istanbul and surrounding provinces also reported feeling the quake.
Authorities said there are no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage. Emergency teams have been placed on alert as aftershocks remain possible.
