Blue Jays rookie starter Yesavage throws four innings in World Series debut

Toronto Blue Jays rookie starter Trey Yesavage completed four innings in his World Series debut as he got the start in the opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Yesavage surrendered two runs, struck out five and walked three as he made his fourth start of the postseason.

The 22-year-old opened the game with a strikeout of three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani and induced him into a groundout to first when he faced him again in the second inning.

The Dodgers were able to push two runs across against Yesavage during his outing, both on RBI singles.

Kiké Hernández opened the scoring with a hit in the second inning and Will Smith added to the lead by reaching in the third.

Yesavage threw 80 pitches on Friday, including 44 strikes.

Daulton Varsho hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2 just before Yesavage was removed and as a result, the Pennsylvania native will get a no-decision.
