Jakub Dobes made 30 saves in Monday’s 4-2 win over the Sabres. The victory moves the 24-year-old rookie to a perfect 3-0-0 on the season. He has been brilliant in his three starts, allowing just five goals on 82 shots, good for a .939 save percentage.
Fantasy Impact:
A goaltending controversy is brewing in Montreal. While Sam Montembeault has struggled to a 2-2-0 record with a .857 save percentage, Dobes has been nearly flawless. Dobes was considered the goalie of the future, but he is making a strong case that the future is now. While this will likely be a timeshare in the immediate short term, Dobes is outplaying the veteran and could earn the larger share of the starts. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
