‘Building construction’ cause of Spectrum outage that affected downtown Redding

Spectrum internet service has been restored in parts of Redding after a commercial outage reported on Tuesday morning, Oct. 28.
The cause of the outage was found to be building construction, a Spectrum spokesman said.
“We had to set a generator on one of our boxes nearby. It looks like there’s some new construction … that interrupted our power this morning,” Trentyn Roden of Spectrum said.
A13,000-square-foot building, the Redding Public Market at 1551 Market St., is going up in one of the areas where the outage occurred, as is a restaurant. The collection of eating establishments is expected to open later this year.
The city’s downtown core and the nearby Garden Tract residential neighborhood were affected.
Internet service was restored in the area in the afternoon on Oct. 28.
