Valentin Vacherot’s Girlfriend Recalls Predicting Monegasque Impressing at Shanghai Masters Before Historic Run

Valentin Vacherot’s girlfriend, Emily Snyder, has admitted that she and one of the Monagesque’s best friends had predicted his Shanghai Masters triumph nearly one month in advance.

Vacherot enjoyed a complete reversal of fortunes in late September, beating the likes of Novak Djokovic, Holger Rune, and Alexander Bublik en route to his maiden pro tour title in Shanghai as a qualifier. By virtue of his triumph, the 26-year-old became the lowest-ranked male player to win an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

Valentin Vacherot’s Girlfriend Emily Always Believed In The Monegasque’s Ability

Speaking to the ATP Tour in an Instagram reel that was uploaded on Wednesday, October 23, Valentin Vacherot’s girlfriend and his biggest supporter during his run in Shanghai, Emily Snyder, gave a first-hand account of how she had foreseen her boyfriend’s “time coming soon” during his campaign at the Rafa Nadal Challenger in August itself.

Snyder also shared a screenshot of her WhatsApp conversation with one of their mutual friends, where she claimed that Vacherot would reach at least the quarterfinals of the Masters-level event.

“Always I’ve said, ‘Your time is going to come. It’s going to come. It’s just a matter of time.” Me, and specifically one of his best friends, one month ago we were in Mallorca at the Rafa Nadal Academy tournament. We’re sitting there and we’re watching him play. We look at each other and we’re like, ‘The time’s coming soon,’” Valentin Vacherot’s girlfriend Emily Snyder reminisced in a conversation with ATP Tour. “Right after that tournament finished, I was texting his best friend and I literally have a screenshot of the messages and I was like, ‘Shanghai doesn’t know what’s coming.’ And then literally right after I’m like, ‘Shanghai, he’s making at least quarterfinals.’ And his best friend is like, ‘Yeah, yeah, quarterfinals for sure.’”

By her own admission, she and Vacherot’s friend in question are both pleasantly surprised by their dreams turning into reality.

>”To this day, me and his best friend were texting every match and we’ll be like, ‘I can’t believe it, we literally said it a month ago that this was going to happen. And now here we are, it did happen,’” she added. “That was also something. This whole time, we’ve been like, mindblown that the one time that we text about it, it’s something that actually happened.’”

Emily Snyder was a constant presence in her boyfriend’s players’ box during this year’s Shanghai Masters. Although Snyder is based in Monaco just like the World No. 39, she grew up and went to college in North Carolina. Currently, she is majoring in Sports Business Management at the International University of Monaco.

Valentin Vacherot’s Nine-Match Unbeaten Streak Snapped In Swiss Indoors Basel First-Round Exit

Valentin Vacherot received a tough draw at this week’s Swiss Indoors Basel, drawing World No. 4 Taylor Fritz in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament. Regardless of the stacked match-up, the Monegasque gave a good account of himself on Wednesday, October 23. He won the first set in comprehensive fashion before eventually succumbing to a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7(4), 5-7 defeat in two hours and 38 minutes.

In tour-level matches this year, Vacherot has fared well enough with a 12-3 win/loss record to boot. Some of the highlights of the 26-year-old’s 2025 season apart from his fairytale run in Shanghai include leapfrogging from being placed as low as World No. 267 in June to achieving his career-high ATP ranking of 39 this week.
