Lucy Beaumont has broken her silence on why she’s been quiet on social media during the airing of Celebrity Traitors.

The 42 year old comedienne, who is currently participating in the popular BBC reality show, has been noticeably absent from Instagram where she usually shares comedic snippets with her followers.

The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, involves celebrities living in a castle and trying to identify the traitor among them.

Despite the pre-recorded nature of the show and viewers already knowing the status of each participant, Lucy admitted she still suspects Clare Balding, even though the sports commentator was identified as a Faithful before being expelled from the castle.

In a recent video, she said: “People have been asking about The Traitors and stuff when I’m out and about, and the thing is, I haven’t done any videos about it. I thought you thought we were still there.

“Do you think we are still in the castle? No one knows where the castle is, do they? There’s a lot of mystery around it and I’ve been very careful to not give anything away.”

She added: “And then the other thing is people ask me about The Traitors like and I just say ‘It’s Clare Balding,’ and they say ‘No, we know who The Traitors are!’ But I think it’s Clare Balding, still. I can’t let it go.

“I knew who The Traitors were but I haven’t been talking to anyone because I didn’t know that you knew that I knew who the Traitors were. Do you know that I know?

“o do you think I’m there and I don’t know or do you think that I’m not there and I shouldn’t know.”, reports the Mirror.

“Do you see why I haven’t done a video? I think it’s Clare Balding! I haven’t been doing a weekly shop. I’ve only been doing a couple of days because I think we’re going back.

“I think we’re gonna go back, I think there’s a sequel. I’m still in guessing mode. I think it’s Clare Balding!”.

Her humorous tirade certainly caught her followers off guard, leaving them just as baffled by the end of her video.

One commented: “I don’t know what I thought before I watched this but I’m more confused about things I wasn’t confused about before watching this [shocked face emoji].”

Another quipped: “I think I know less now than when I started watching the video,” while a third jested: “Maybe best to just pretend you don’t know anything?

But then I guess we’ll know what you know and you’ll know that we know you know. You know?””.

It’s speculated that Lucy’s appearance on The Traitors could give her career a lift, following her divorce from fellow comedian and Waterloo Road star Jon Richardson.

A source revealed to The Sun before the programme aired: “Lucy is a massive fan of the show and is so excited about getting stuck in at Ardross Castle. After her split from Jon, she has been working really hard to make more of a name for herself and Celebrity Traitors is the ideal opportunity.”

The split came as a bombshell to supporters, as the duo had emerged as an enormous power couple following their appearance in their own programme, Meet The Richardsons, which debuted in 2020.

At the time of their separation, a joint statement declared: “We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

“As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment. Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont.”

Lucy ended her silence regarding their marital breakdown in September, maintaining that Jon could never acknowledge when he was mistaken and alleged that he was ‘stubborn’.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she remarked at the time: “People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity.

“We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.”

Lucy revealed a fresh outlook on life now she’s reached her forties: “I don’t feel any different really, just a bit angrier and not willing to take any s*** from anyone.”
