Celebrity Traitors’ Cat Burns responds to tense Round Table moment as fans praise “fantastic” move

The Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns has responded to last night’s tense Round Table moment, as she was put on the spot by a fellow contestant and managed to pull off a “fantastic” move to divert attention away from herself.

In the latest episode of the BBC One show, a lot of the heat was on Mark Bonnar and David Olusoga, with a little bit of attention on Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry too.

At one point, Mark asked, “Can I just… I’d love to know what Cat thinks”, in what seemed like a very out-of-the-blue moment, leaving Cat looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

She took the nervous energy and ran with it, stating, “Sometimes I struggle to come forward”, instantly eliciting sympathy and apologies from her fellow players (who have no idea she’s been murdering and manipulating them).

Cat mostly went for David, one of the safe choices, and Stephen, who she mentioned she had went for multiple times before.

But Cat also stated her suspicions about Jonathan, her fellow Traitor who previously narrowly avoided banishment.

She didn’t completely throw him under the bus, but if Jonathan is eventually caught out, she can use the fact that she openly suspected him as a way to hide her identity.

Cat referenced the moment in an Instagram post, miming to a TikTok audio of someone being asked what they do for a living and not giving them an answer. “LOOOOOOOL I recovered it well though no? Tonight’s episode had me SHOOOOOOOOOOOK,” she said in the caption.

Fans agreed in the comments that she recovered well, with one writing: “Honestly you saying, ‘Yeah, I find it hard speaking up’ was SO SMART! Get that sympathy girl!!”

“Oooo that look from Jonathan!! He didn’t like that backstab one bit!!!” said another. “But you totally diverted the conversation to Stephen then it veered off to the others, so he shouldn’t be too upset!! Well played! You’re amazing! Masking away lol!”

“You are fantastic,” wrote a third fan, while another said: “You got yourself out of my that close shave brilliantly!!”

Will the group finally nab a Traitor tonight?

The Celebrity Traitors airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9pm on BBC One, and streams on iPlayer. Uncloaked follows straight afterwards on BBC Two.
