Six counties are under Status Yellow rain and wind warnings as Met Éireann forecasts unsettled weather for this weekend.

Two rain warnings for counties Cork and Kerry kicked in at 11am today and will run until 8pm tonight.

A second rain warning is also valid for counties Galway and Mayo between noon and 8pm.

Met Éireann warns that both alerts bring the threat of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

A separate wind warning is also in place for four counties: Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Wexford from 11am this morning until 11pm tonight.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a yellow wind alert for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry from 1pm to 11pm.

Starting with this morning, it is largely dry but rainfall is building from the southwest. Highest temperatures of 13C or 14C with gale force winds on the coast.

Any rain tonight is expected to clear northeastwards, leaving clear spells with only scattered showers and temperatures of 11C to 12C.

Tomorrow will be mainly dry before rain moves in from the southwest with the odd sunny spell developing. Highest temperatures of 13C and 14C.

Halloween night tomorrow will be damp and cloudy as rain comes in from the southwest covering the south and east first. More rain will feed in from the west with the chance of lightning.

Lowest night temperatures will be 5C to 7C.

Saturday will be breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers with temperatures of 9C to 12C. Saturday night will be mainly dry with showers confined to the coasts with lowest temperatures reaching 4C.

Sunday will be dry and breezy for most, with Atlantic coastal counties counties receiving more showers. The afternoon will bring rain from the west which will move in across the country. Highest temperatures of 10C to 14C.

Monday will begin wet for most parts of the country, clearing in the afternoon.

Met Éireann’s extended-range forecast predicts next week will have “unsettled and mixed conditions” with rain expected to be “above climatological norms”.
