Jacob Elordi, Amy Madigan and Sydney Sweeney among Virtuosos honorees at Santa Barbara Film Festival

Awards contenders Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Amy Madigan (Weapons) and Sydney Sweeney (Christy) will take their Oscar campaigns to sunny Santa Barbara on Feb. 8, where they’ll be feted alongside Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another) Wagner Moura, (The Secret Agent) Renate Reinsve, (Sentimental Value) Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) and Jeremy Allen White (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere) at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Virtuosos Awards.

It’s shaping up to be a competitive year for many of the honorees. Reinsve’s acclaimed turn in Sentimental Value currently ranks second on the Gold Derby odds for Best Actress, behind Jessie Buckley for Hamnet. Over in Best Actor, Moura sits in fourth place, followed closely by White in fifth. In the Best Supporting Actress race, Taylor continues to lead the field, while Madigan holds steady in fifth position.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere

The Virtuosos Awards have become one of SBIFF’s signature events, spotlighting breakthrough performances of the year. Recent recipients include Kieran Culkin, Harris Dickinson, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Clarence Maclin, Mikey Madison, John Magaro, Lily Gladstone, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Greta Lee, Charles Melton, America Ferrera, Andrew Scott, Austin Butler, Kerry Condon, Danielle Deadwyler, Nina Hoss, Stephanie Hsu, Jeremy Pope, Ke Huy Quan, Jeremy Strong, Caitríona Balfe, Ariana DeBose, Jamie Dornan, Alana Haim, Ciarán Hinds, Emilia Jones, Troy Kotsur, Simon Rex, Saniyya Sidney, Riz Ahmed, Maria Bakalova, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Andra Day, Sidney Flanigan, Vanessa Kirby, Tahar Rahim and Zendaya.

The festival previously announced that Adam Sandler will receive the Maltin Modern Master Award for career achievement on Feb. 5. and Michael B. Jordan is set to receive the Performer of the Year Award for his role in Sinners on Feb. 12.

The 41st Santa Barbara International Film Festival runs Feb. 4–14.
