Szczęsny at his most natural on the Barça YouTube channel

Wojciech Szczęsny has taken over from Marcus Rashford on FC Barcelona’s YouTube channel. A few days ago it was the English striker answering questions from fans, and this time it was the turn of the Polish goalkeeper. Tek responded to all kinds of questions during the live session, from his experiences saving penalties to curiosities about his daily routine.
The broadcast, open to everyone on YouTube but featuring exclusive questions from members, offered a chance to get to know the goalkeeper a little better, both professionally and personally, as well as to talk about Barça and the players from La Masia.
The Pole praised the work done in youth development, which produces top-level players every year, explaining that “in general, all the players who come through La Masia are incredibly technical. Not everyone is as good at 16 as Lamine Yamal; some need more experience, but they’re all very talented.”
There was also time to look back at the goalkeeper’s latest performance. Despite the defeat at the Bernabéu, Tek delivered an excellent display, with the highlight being his penalty save against Mbappé. Fans asked him about it, and with good reason, as he’s now the only goalkeeper to have saved penalties from Messi, Mbappé, and Neymar. “It’s a pretty good list,” he admitted. “But I don’t really think about it right now. Maybe when I’m older I’ll appreciate it more.”
This, he said, is no coincidence: “I study my opponents a lot. I might watch their last 20 penalties How they take them, their rhythm, what happens if their team is winning, whether they’re confident… Before El Clásico, I also studied Mbappé. I dived to the same side as his last one.”
Szczęsny also spoke about his personal routines, saying he considers himself a calm person both in daily life and on the pitch: “Emotions don’t help me. I try to disconnect and focus on the game. Meditation helps me stay present in the moment.”
Aside from football, there was time for some light-hearted moments. Showing his more natural and humorous side, the goalkeeper said he loves spending time with his children when he leaves the training ground. He also admitted that he’s learning Catalan and that he sings quite well. He even dared to tease Lewandowski and to name his top five goalkeepers of all time!
