A well-known prankster executed his most recent escapade by storming onto the field just moments before England and Australia’s rugby league clash.

‘Jarvo 69’ managed to position himself alongside the Australian squad during their national anthem at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, before security personnel escorted him away. It is not the first time the notorious prankster has caused mischief at a national event.

He has previously attempted to repeat the prank in the Nations League when England faced Republic of Ireland last year. After he got himself into position at the rugby, fans taunted the ground officials and stewards.

“That is a true embarrassment,” one supporter wrote on X. Another added: “Well known pitch invader Jarvo has managed to get into the pitch, stand with the Aussies, sing the national anthem while getting on TV.”

England are taking on Australia in the second of three fixtures for the return of rugby league’s Ashes. It marks the first series of its type since the Kangaroos secured a 3-0 triumph on English territory in 2003.

The previous weekend saw the two nations battle it out at Wembley. Australia cruised to a commanding 26-6 victory before the contest shifted to Merseyside.

The teams will also meet at Leeds Rhinos’ Headingley Stadium next Saturday, November 8. ‘Jarvo 69’ serves as the pseudonym for Daniel Jarvis, whom supporters might remember as the architect behind several other prominent sporting disruptions.

In September 2024, he attempted to join the England football squad before their Nations League encounter against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

The troublemaker famously disrupted Sky Sports’ transfer deadline day broadcast with a sex toy and infiltrated the closing ceremony at the Paris Olympic Games, masquerading as a Team GB representative. Jarvis infamously broadcast a series of explicit sounds during the BBC’s live broadcast of an FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolves, and he similarly disrupted the Euro 2024 draw.

His behaviour during a Test cricket match between England and India at the Oval in 2022 resulted in him being convicted of aggravated trespass. Jarvis invaded the pitch dressed in Indian cricket whites and crashed into England player Jonny Bairstow, earning himself a suspended sentence.

District Judge Daniel Benjamin remarked: “Players and sporting officials do not know whether a person crossing the boundary is intent on doing them physical harm.

“Even if the person is not intent on doing physical harm, as your own conduct shows it is possible for physical contact to be made with a player inadvertently, risking such harm. As with any other member of the public, players and officials deserve to feel safe within their workplace.

“Contrary to your attempts to do otherwise with your YouTube videos, the message needs to go out that wrongly entering the arena at a sporting fixture is not a silly matter. It is so wide of the mark of acceptable behaviour that it will be met with severe sanction by the courts.”
