One Strictly Come Dancing celebrity appears to be finding things tough in the run-up to this weekend’s live performance.

Saturday evening will see BBC audiences watch the remaining couples honour some of music’s greatest icons during Icons Week.

The news follows the revelation that presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly are stepping away from the programme after 21 years at the helm.

Yet one star has admitted their upcoming performance is proving particularly challenging, leaving their body “in pieces”.

During Friday’s instalment of It Takes Two with Janette Manrara, Karen Carney and Carlos Gu discussed their Saturday night Rumba tribute to Celine Dion, reports Wales Online.

When questioned about how she’s coping with the gentle, slower dance compared to quicker routines, she revealed: “Doing the Rumba is like you’ve lifted weights for six days.

“Honestly, my legs are in bits! Everything goes through the floor. Imagine when you’re lifting weights, everything goes through. My muscles are in pieces, literally. It’s physically so hard for me.”

Despite finding the routine physically taxing, the sports star admitted the Rumba has taken her by surprise.

She said: “I love it! Whether I can do it is a different matter, but I absolutely love it, and I never thought that would be the one where I go, ‘I love doing it’.

“It’s Carlos’ favourite as well so maybe I’ve channelled that from him, I’ve just fell in love with it.”

Last weekend, Karen and Carlos received a score of 27 for their performance, placing them ninth on the leaderboard.

In contrast, Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe are leading the pack with a total score of 36. Unfortunately, it was curtains for Chris Robshaw as he became the most recent contestant to exit the competition.

Reflecting on his experience, he expressed: “I’ve loved it, I’ve had an amazing partner, for me, coming onto this journey, I had no confidence.

“To be told I had world-class qualities on the dancefloor today, even though we have to go home, that’s amazing to hear so thank you very much. It’s given me such confidence.”

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on Saturday night on BBC One from 6:25pm. It Takes Two is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
