Gaza ceasefire violations
The Israeli military has launched fresh attacks on the Gaza Strip in violation of the ceasefire, killing more Palestinians. Four people have been killed and several others injured as a result of Israeli attacks in the eastern Gaza Strip since dawn on Friday. In Gaza City, an Israeli attack left a Palestinian dead, injuring another, in the Shujayea neighborhood. Elsewhere, in the northern city of Jabalia, a regime’s strike claimed another Palestinian life. There are also reports of regime forces blowing up residential buildings in the southern city of Khan Yunis. Israel has repeatedly violated the truce that came into force in Gaza on October 10th, with artillery shelling, gunfire, and airstrikes, leaving over 200 casualties. Meanwhile, the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says it has received the bodies of thirty Palestinian prisoners as part of the deal. The resistance movement returned the bodies of two more Israeli captives on Thursday.
Israel’s aggression against Lebanon
The Secretary General of Hezbollah has slammed the United States for being the main instigator of Israel’s acts of aggression in Lebanon and across the West Asia region, rejecting Washington’s claim of being a fair mediator. Sheikh Qassem made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the Souk Ardi 2025 exhibition. He said the US claims to be seeking to end the Israeli aggression, yet has taken no action to stop the regime’s violations against Lebanon. Sheikh Qassem added that the ongoing killings of Lebanese civilians are obvious crimes, but the US remains silent while working to justify Israel’s repeated ceasefire violations. Turning to the issue of disarmament, He emphasized that threats will not alter Hezbollah’s stance of resistance and steadfastness, and the group will never accept surrender or defeat. He concluded by saying that while Israel may occupy Lebanese land, it cannot maintain its occupation forever.
US government shutdown
New York has declared a state of emergency to keep food banks running as the US government shutdown threatens food aid for millions. The New York Governor issued the declaration to free up funds to provide 65 million dollars in assistance to food banks across the state. This comes as the benefits of a federal aid program, called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP, are set to expire on November 1. Oregon and Virginia have also issued emergency declarations to help maintain food aid for their residents. The shutdown, now in its thirtieth day, has furloughed thousands of federal workers and left key aid programs in limbo.
