A Disciplinary process took place in relation to Andrew Osborne’s 20 minute Red Card in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship Round 5 game against Zebre Parma on Saturday October 25.
The Player (Andrew Osborne, Leinster Rugby No 11), received a 20 minute Red Card in the 28th minute of the game under Law 9.17 – A player must not tackle, charge, pull, push or grasp an opponent whose feet are off the ground.
The Judicial Officer overseeing the disciplinary process (Adv. Sibonile Khoza, South Africa), found the Player recklessly engaged in an aerial contest causing the opponent to land awkwardly but without sustaining any significant injury. In the Player’s response to the Judicial Officer, he accepted that he committed an act of foul play. Due to the Player’s exemplary record, immediate apology and remorse and full engaged cooperation throughout the disciplinary process, Adv. Khoza determined that the Player’s sending off was sufficient and therefore no further action is required.
As a result, the Player is free to play.
