Howie Roseman makes yet another trade (but leaves Eagles fans utterly confused)

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman makes yet another trade, but this time, fans are raising their hands trying to understand why it’s happening.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the Eagles traded a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens. In exchange, Philadelphia receives cornerback Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Alexander has had a somewhat checkered career in the NFL, with two Pro Bowl selections, while playing his first seven years with the Green Bay Packers. Earlier in the summer, he signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens, but has only played in two games after an early-season injury and multiple healthy scratches.

Eagles add another cornerback, but what is going to happen at the position?

The part that is leaving Eagles fans confused is that they already traded for a cornerback this past week, with Michael Carter II coming from the New York Jets in a trade. At least this time around, Philly didn’t have to give up a pick to get Alexander.

With the move, the Eagles now have the option to leave Cooper DeJean in the slot and could have Alexander on the outside if they want to. That would mean Carter would end up on the bench backing up DeJean.

It also raises the idea that the Eagles could move on from Adoree’ Jackson or Kelee Ringo in a trade or release. Jackson and Ringo have each gotten reps as starting CB2, but both have struggled mightily to perform.

There’s still the option that DeJean moves to the outside, and either Carter or Alexander moves into the slot. Carter makes more sense as he’s been stellar there, while Alexander has been a career outside corner.

Overall, it isn’t a bad move as they give up just a Day 3 draft pick, but some more decisions will have to be made at cornerback.
