Eagles have inquired about two AFC East pass rushers ahead of the NFL trade deadline

The NFL trade deadline is approaching, and The Athletic reports that Philadelphia has inquired about Dolphins pass rusher Jaelan Phillips and Jets’ Jermaine Johnson
The NFL trade deadline is just three days away, and the Eagles could be interested in adding a pass rusher or cornerback before mid-afternoon on Tuesday. Two players to watch in the AFC East are the Dolphins’ pass rusher, Jaelan Phillips. The scenario just got even more intriguing after the Dolphins and GM Chris Grier decided to mutually part ways hours after a 28-6 Miami loss to Baltimore on Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football.
Among their trade candidates that Philadelphia could covet are Phillips and Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson, according to The Athletic.
The Athletic on Jermaine Johnson:
The Eagles need an edge rusher and asked the Jets about Jermaine Johnson. It makes sense, considering former Jets GM Joe Douglas drafted him in New York and is now Philly’s senior personnel director. However, New York has held a high asking price of a second-round pick or better.
The Athletic on Jaelan Phillips:
Miami has received interest from the Eagles, 49ers, Patriots and others on OLB Jaelan Phillips (The Dolphins are looking for at least a third-rounder in return). They’re also getting calls on DE Bradley Chubb and OLB Matthew Judon.
During that 2023 stretch with Fangio, Phillips notched 6.5 sacks in only eight games with six starts after previously posting 8.5 and seven-sack seasons as a rookie and second-year player.
Phillips is a talented player who has dealt with injuries but has been impactful when healthy. Phillips has played all nine games this season, generating three sacks, seven QB hits, and 25 tackles.
Johnson has played in five games, recording one pass defended, one sack, 19 tackles, and four pressures. A 2023 Pro Bowler, Johnson has dealt with injuries and inconsistency.
