Preview: Leicester City v Arsenal Women | Pre-Match Report | News

We return to Barclays Women’s Super League action this weekend with a trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City at 12pm on Sunday, November 2.
We’ll be looking to continue our winning form from before the international break, as we saw off Brighton at Emirates Stadium before claiming our first win in this season’s Champions League away to Benfica.
Six games into the WSL season, we sit in fifth position, but can move into the top three with a victory on Sunday if other results go in our favour.
Tricky Foxes proving tough to beat
Leicester were dealt a tough start to their Women’s Super League season, visiting Manchester United and Chelsea in their first two away matches of the campaign.
Despite losing these games on the road, they did take all three points from their first home game, beating Liverpool 1-0 thanks to an Emily van Egmond winner at the King Power.
The Foxes’ first away win of the season came against Ipswich Town in the Subway Women’s League Cup, a tie Leicester won 5-1 with five different goal scorers.
After a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham, Rick Passmoor’s side battled back to draw 1-1 with Everton through a late Noemie Mouchon goal, before drawing 0-0 at Villa Park with Aston Villa.
Last time out, the Foxes became the first side since ourselves in February 2024 to keep a clean sheet away to London City Lionesses, as they beat the promoted side 1-0 to go top of Group D in the League Cup.
what the managers say
Slegers: “The WSL is a very strong league, and if you look at Leicester’s results, there are many one-goal differences in the results, so it’s going to be a challenge. They have a strong identity with their defending game and and the way they do that.
“We have to break things down and find the right moments to capitalise on when things are organised and when things are disorganised. So we’ll go there with respect of course because they’ve made it really hard for a lot of teams so far. We also go there with a big belief in the qualities that we have.”

Every word from of Renée’s pre-Leicester presser
Passmoor: “When you look at the history of Arsenal, they are fantastic. They have set the bar so high and other clubs are scrambling to get to the same level that they set. It’s a pleasure to be in the league and to play against them.
“It’s a mentality you need (to cause an upset), and you need to be difficult to beat. You need to work as a team. You’ve got King Power Stadium, you’ve got Arsenal, and this is where we want to be. We just need to enjoy it.”
facts and stats
We have a perfect record against Leicester in the WSL era, winning all eight of our league meetings; we’ve outscored the Foxes 29-3 across those games.
Our eight match winning run against the Foxes is our longest active winning streak against a single opponent in the league.
Since the start of last season, Leicester have won a greater proportion of their points in the WSL in home games than any other side, winning 21 of their 25 points in that time at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes have scored just three league goals this season, each scored by different players; seven different players (and an own goal) have combined for our 13 WSL goals this season, with four players netting multiple times across the first six games.
Leicester manager Rick Passmoor has faced us eight times, but is yet to beat us, drawing five and losing three in his time at Notts County (2013-2016).
Goalkeeper Janina Leitzig made eight saves in the Foxes’ 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, the most she has made in a WSL game without conceding. The German has made the most saves in the league so far this season (29).

taming the foxes in april
Leicester will be hoping to avoid a repeat of our last meeting, when Caitlin Foord scored twice in a 5-1 victory for us at Emirates Stadium in April. The Australian scored her goals in the first half, either side of a fine finish from Stina Blackstenius, before Beth Mead and Victoria Pelova completed the rout in the second half.
We also got the better of the Foxes at the King Power last season, with Frida Maanum’s strike securing a 1-0 victory in September.

Tickets in the away end at the King Power are now sold out, but supporters can still get behind the team from home.
