N.Y. Lottery: Bronx man claims $1,000 Cash4Life second place prize; here’s how much he got

A Bronx man scored a life-changing win by claiming the second prize in the New York Lottery’s Cash4Life game, lottery officials announced.
Carl Bertoni of the Bronx matched five Cash4Life numbers drawn on July 7, securing the second prize of $1,000 a Week for Life. The prize guarantees a minimum payout of $1,000,000.
Bertoni opted to receive the cash value of the minimum payout, resulting in a one-time lump sum payment totaling $612,240 after required withholdings, according to officials.
The winning ticket was purchased at Smokes 4 Less, located at 59 North Plank Road in Newburgh.
The winning numbers were: 08, 31, 45, 53, 58, and Cash Ball 03.
The Cash4Life game generated $110,062,930 in total sales during fiscal year 2024-2025. School districts across Orange County received $110,650,619 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
