Flyers Game 12, Bounce Back; Line, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Flames

The Philadelphia Flyers (6-4-1) will look to bounce back after their home win streak was snapped by the Toronto Maple Leafs when they host the Calgary Flames (2-9-2) Sunday night. Sunday night’s game concludes the Flyers’ five-game homestand.
Calgary has had its share of struggles to start the season. Calder Trophy finalist Dustin Wolf has been a shadow of himself from last season. The team has lost its three games as a whole. That includes their Saturday game in Nashville, where Dustin Wolf was pulled after the first period.
The Flyers, on the other hand, had been riding a hot streak before their 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. You could feel the loss coming, especially with how sloppy the team was in their win against Nashville. They were saved by great goaltending on Thursday, something they did not get on Saturday.
Now, the Flyers will look to bounce back against the Flames. The puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Things to Watch
One thing I want to keep an eye on is Tyson Foerster. Foerster took a shot to the skate on Saturday; you could visibly see he was in pain, yet he played through it. It’s early in the season. Like Sean Couturier’s status on Saturday, if it were a playoff game, no doubt he’d play without restriction. However, it’s just game 12. You have to wonder how that affects his status for Sunday.
Speaking of Couturier, he was considered to be a game-time decision on Saturday. You have to wonder if he carries the same status for Sunday. Similar to my thoughts on Foerster, it’s still early in the season. Maybe his status depends on Foersters? In reality, Jacob Gaucher’s playing did not hurt the Flyers on Saturday. I actually think he looked pretty good as far as the fourth line goes. Against a weaker opponent like Calgary, I would prioritize health over rushing a player back.
Trevor Zegras is one more game with a point away from breaking the team record for the longest home point streak to start a Flyers career. With his primary assist on Foerster’s power-play goal on Saturday, Zegras tied Peter Forsberg’s record with eight straight home games with an assist. A point on Sunday extends the streak to nine games, breaking the Flyers’ record.
Lastly, Joel Farebee and Morgan Frost return to the Philadelphia Flyers for the second time in their careers. With both Jakob Pelletier and Andrei Kuzmenko gone, the Flyers essentially traded Frost, Farabee, and a 2025 Seventh-Rounder (LAK, Brendan McMorrow) for Shane Vansaghi (48th overall via CGY), a 2027 Third-Round pick (via LAK), and a 2028 Seventh-Round Pick.

Previous Matchups
The Philadelphia Flyers played the Calgary Flames twice last season. One matchup occurred very early in the year, and the other took place right before the trade deadline. In both matchups, the Flames beat the Flyers by a score of 6-3.
Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny each had two points. Courturier had a goal and an assist, while Konecny had two goals. Bobby Brink and Matvei Michkov each had a pair of assists against the Flames last season as well.
Former Flyer Andrei Kuzmenko also had two points in his one game against the Flames last season (part of the Frost/Farabee trade. Kuzmenko, of course, is now with the LA Kings.
Jonathan Huberdeau led the Flames with six points against the Flyers last season, with two goals and four assists. Nazem Kadri led the team in goals against the Flyers with three.
