Commanders’ Daniels leaves after gruesome left arm injury

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was helped off the field after suffering a gruesome injury to his non-throwing elbow in the fourth quarter of their game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Daniels took a snap in the red zone and scrambled to the right side before being tackled and falling awkwardly to the ground. The second-year player then suffered a horrific injury as he tried to brace his fall with his left arm.

The medical staff at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., put Daniels’ arm in an air cast before he was taken off the field for further evaluation.

Daniels missed time with a hamstring injury earlier in the season, as he was unable to participate in the teams’ games in Weeks 3 and 4, and Daniels also missed the Commanders’ game a week ago with another injury.

The Commanders have had injury problems throughout the year, with multiple injuries at wide receiver and along the defensive line have left the team unable to generate consistent success to build off their appearance in the NFC Championship Game a year ago.

Daniels threw for 1,031 passing yards with eight touchdowns against just one interception in his limited action this year.

The second-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Daniels threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns a year ago, leading to a Pro Bowl nomination and AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honours.

More to come.
