Latest odds: New favourite shortens as betting shifts in most open Melbourne Cup in years

The 2025 Melbourne Cup looms as one of the most open in years, so it’ll be fascinating to see how the betting market takes shape ahead of Tuesday’s race.
Caulfield Cup winner Half Yours began favourite but has drifted to $7.50, with Al Riffa now the clear betting favourite at $6.50.
That pair are followed by Presage Nocturne, Vailiant King and Buckaroo who were all previously under $10 odds, although one has drifted beyond that price.
But they aren’t the only fancied runners with the market suggesting the bulk of the 24-horse field has a chance to win the race.
