Underground rave in Hobart Rivulet tunnel shut down by police

A secret underground rave in a Hobart tunnel was shut down by Tasmania Police on Saturday night after reports of a large gathering in the city’s rivulet.

Dozens of young people had transformed the underground tunnel beneath the Hobart CBD into a makeshift nightclub.

The party was complete with an elaborate light and sound system which organisers had carried into the rivulet.

Footage from the scene shows at least eight police officers entering the tunnel with flashlights, instructing the crowd to disperse.
