Report: Cowboys reached out to Bengals about trade for LB Logan Wilson

Dallas’ linebackers haven’t lived up to the hope, so them shopping for better fits shouldn’t surprise anyone.
The Dallas Cowboys are still on the hunt, assuming they have what it takes to be championship contenders for the 2025 season. That outlook would likely have to be boosted by a win on Monday night, but could lead to them becoming last-minute entrants into the NFL trade market. With the deadline quickly approaching, less than 24 hours after the conclusion of their Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals, any move they want to make will have to be finalized quick-fast and in a hurry.
On Saturday night, ESPN confirmed the idea that the club was sniffing around the Cincinnati Bengals roster. Adam Schefter is reporting the Cowboys aren’t only calling about edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, who they were rebuffed on, but also linebacker Logan Wilson.
Another Cincinnati defensive standout whose name has come up as the deadline approaches is linebacker Logan Wilson, who requested to be traded less than two weeks ago.
Teams that have expressed some interest in Wilson are the Bills, Cowboys and Colts, sources told ESPN. Wilson also is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Bears because of a calf injury.
Wilson is interesting because he has three years remaining on his current deal. He’s set to make $12.6 million across 2026 and 2027, and has around $2.6 million remaining in base salary for the back half of this season. There are also around $1.3 million in bonuses tied to his salary, bringing the total remaining value of his deal to around $16 million.
Wilson has never made a Pro Bowl, but the 28 year old is seen as a solid value. He became a starter in 2021, his second season, and has tallied over 100 tackles each season since.
The Cowboys have struggled at the linebacker position, as they’ve been led by offseason additions. The team traded for Kenneth Murray and signed Jack Sanborn in free agency, to help implement the system of defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Incumbent Marist Liufau and Damone Clark were in the mix early, but they’ve been surpassed by fifth-year rookie Shemar James.
All in all, the group has looked slow to react and confused all season. The crew will get reinforcements after Dallas’ Week 10 bye when DeMarvion Overshown is activated after tearing his ACL last season. It’s quite possible he and Wilson would be the starting pairing for the remainder of the season.
