Raiders’ Jakobi Meyers Reportedly Pursued by Steelers, Bills At NFL Trade Deadline

Jakobi Meyers didn’t get the extension he was seeking in the offseason, and he never got the trade he asked for either. That might change ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline, however.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Las Vegas Raiders Raiders “have fielded calls from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills on Meyers, but Las Vegas has set a high price. Pittsburgh is looking at other wide receiver options, too.”
That jibes with a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Oct. 25, who noted that the Raiders would “deal the veteran wide receiver only if they felt they were getting strong value in return, sources told ESPN. With the NFL trade deadline approaching, a trade offer of that nature has not materialized, according to sources.”
Meyers, 28, was very good for the Raiders in 2023 (71 catches for 807 yards and eight touchdowns) and excellent last season, when he set career highs in receptions (87) and receiving yards (1,027) while adding four scores.
He hasn’t been quite as impactful for the Raiders this season, with 29 catches for 329 yards through six games, though knee and toe injuries did cost him a game. The Raiders have also struggled to move the ball through the air, ranking 28th in passing offense (182.7 YPG).
While Meyers hasn’t gone out of his way to express his displeasure remaining in Las Vegas, he also hasn’t changed his stance on the trade request he made in August.
“Oh, for sure,” he told reporters on Oct. 21 when asked if he still wanted a trade. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be. … [The Raiders] know how I feel. It’s no reason for me to keep going back crying to them, ‘Can you get me out of here?'”
Meyers is in the final year of his contract and was seeking an extension, though an agreement never came.
“That window kind of just closed with the offseason in it,” he told reporters. “If it gets done, I don’t care for real. I really just want to be in a good spot for me [and] my family.”
