Police Scotland’s Operation Moonbeam continues tonight

Operation Moonbeam continues tonight, with enhanced levels of specialist support in place to help communities stay safe in the lead up to Bonfire Night.
The operation was first launched in 2018, following serious disorder in Edinburgh and various parts of the country over bonfire night.
Alongside increased resources to prevent and respond to disorder, the Strategic Coordination Centre is live through the evening, working with key partners to support safe celebrations.
Dispersal Zones for Operation Crackle are in place across Edinburgh (31 Oct – 5 Nov) to help prevent anti-social behaviour and protect the communities.
Last year fireworks were used to attack emergency service personnel, public transport and shops.
A police spokesperson said: “Please remember to look out for one another and to enjoy festivities responsibly.
“Report any suspicious or criminal behaviour to 101, and in an emergency, always call 999.”
