With about 14% of scanners reporting, Borough President Vito Fossella leads challenger Michael T. Colombo, 39,465 votes to 18,369 votes, according to the city Board of Elections. There are 102 write-in votes.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Islanders went to the polls Tuesday to cast votes in several races, including mayor, borough president and City Council.

Early voting, which ran from Oct. 25 through Sunday, saw 53,721 Islanders head to the polls, according to the city Board of Elections.

As of Nov. 1, there were 337,196 people registered to vote on Staten Island, including 318,961 active voters and 18,235 inactive voters. The total voters includes 130,153 Democrats and 108,559 Republicans. Another 13,739 are registered to other parties, while 84,745 have no party affiliation.
