In Nyack, voters faced some curbside obstacles Tuesday as the primary road to a polling place at Grace Episcopal Church was blocked for several hours.
Nyack Department of Public Works crews were working on repaving sidewalks along First Avenue as part of the village’s ongoing sidewalk improvement and repaving project early Tuesday morning. However, after voters brought up concerns about lack of parking near the church to access the polling area, Mayor Joe Rand said the work had been shut down for the day as of 9:15 a.m.
In nearby New York City, voters are expected to turn out in record numbers to elect their next mayor.
President Donald Trump endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s independent bid for New York City mayor Monday on social media, saying he’d “much rather see a Democrat, who has had a Record of Success, WIN” than Mamdani.
Cuomo initially bristled at the endorsement, flagging in his own social media post Trump’s mention of him being a “bad Democrat.”
