Viewers slam Scott Jennings as Zohran Mamdani mayoral win leaves CNN host lost for words

Viewers have blasted Scott Jennings online after the CNN host was outwardly shocked at Zohran Mamdani’s New York mayoral win on Tuesday night.
On November 4, Mamdani won New York City’s mayoral election with more than 50% of the vote. The 34-year-old will be the first Muslim and millennial leader of the East Coast city, beating Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa to first place.
Unsurprisingly, not everyone is happy with Mamdani’s election, including CNN’s Scott Jennings, who appeared rather stonefaced as he discussed the result with his fellow panelists last night. Meanwhile, Mamdani eviscerated Trump with a powerful 4-word message in his damning victory speech.

Speaking on CNN’s Election Night 2025 show, Scott said, “I just want to offer condolences to Chuck Schumer.
“What I’m reading here in New York City is that [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] is going to be the next senator from New York after she gets done whooping his rear end in the 2028 Democratic primary.”
Continuing, Scott claimed that November 4 was a “terrible night” for Democrats, telling viewers, “This is a terrible night for national democratic image given what is happening inside their party,” before claiming Zohran Mamdani is “now the leader of their party.”
However, this prompted backlash from Anderson Cooper, who denied that this was the case. “He’s the leader of the Democratic Party?” Anderson queried as Alyssa Farah Griffin laughed, and Van Jones gave a quick smile.
“Who is the leader? Can someone tell me?” Scott replied. On an earlier election show, Scott, 48, also received backlash for calling Mamdani an “Islamo-Marxist” hours before the mayoral results were released.
Speaking on a CNN panel with David Hogg, the 25-year-old vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Scott said, “They’re going to elect a socialist to run the financial capital of the world. I mean [David Hogg] gave him $300,000. I’m saying that’s probably the only 300 non-Islamo-Marxist grant that he’s got.”
However, David snapped back, telling Scott, “The reason he’s so powerful is because people are tired of being lectured by men with Rolexes on CNN about affordability in this country.”
CNN viewers on social media were quick to comment on Scott’s claims, with one X user writing, “Remember fine people – CNN pays Scott Jennings to use their airtime to say stupid s–t.”
Another person also added, “Why does CNN even have this paid MAGA provocateur on? All Scott Jennings does is spew the rhetoric that Trump wants to hear.”
A third wrote, “Anderson Cooper…please, please, please use your influence to get Scott Jennings off of CNN!!!!!” as a fourth X user penned, “If Scott Jennings is displeased, then consider me jumping for joy.”
It came before Trump totally undermined the GOP with a wild ballot claim during his meltdown over the MAGA wipeout.
