Death Grips Confirm New Album Is in the Works

Death Grips have confirmed that new music is on the way.

The group, originally comprised of MC Ride, Zach Hill, and producer Andy Morin, posted a carousel of photos to their Instagram depicting various recording setups in a studio. They captioned the photo: “The Writing and recording of our next album is underway. We’re looking forward to the new Death Grips record.”

They attributed the caption and photos to Stefan [Burnett] (A.K.A. MC Ride) and Zach, suggesting that longtime member Andy Morin is no longer involved with the group. Earlier this year, Death Grips dispelled rumors of their breakup after a leaked conversation between Morin and an anonymous Instagram user suggested that the group was “over.” “Despite rumors and hearsay, we remain active as Death Grips,” said the band on Instagram with the credit attributed once again to Stefan and Zach [Hill].

Still, Morin’s official departure from the group remains unconfirmed, and the timeline for a follow-up to 2018’s Year of the Snitch is unknown. Death Grips were last active in 2023, when they headed on their first tour in four years. That tour was a success for Death Grips, though they did walk off stage early at a Fayetteville, Arkansas gig because the audience kept pelting them with glow sticks.
