Coach Hansi Flick was in a positive frame of mind ahead of Club Brugge v FC Barcelona. “We are gradually getting players back and I like what I have seen in training. I see the mentality of the team is better”, he expressed during the press conference at the Jan Breydel Stadium. He was joined by Robert Lewandowski, who received a lot of praise from a coach who loves being at FC Barcelona, as he himself stated, “I am very happy at this Club and in Barcelona, I will give my best”.
“It will be a tough game”
The coach showed his confidence in the development and attitude of the team, stating “We had a lot of injuries at the start of this season, but I like how the team trained ahead of the game at Club Brugge’s stadium, where there will be a great atmosphere”. Beyond the atmosphere at a stadium that FC Barcelona haven’t visited since 2002, Flick also highlighted the tough task ahead due to how Nicky Hayen’s side play, commenting “They like to have the ball and press. I think it will be similar to the game against Elche”.
But Hansi Flick demands a mindset from his players, and he went on to say “We have to play as a team and focus on the game plan. We took a step forward with the win against Elche and we have got important players like Olmo and Lewandowski back. We have the quality to win against Club Brugge”.
The FC Barcelona coach was very clear about what he wants by commenting “We want the three points”. And he has good reason to think it is possible given the 21 players called up. However, Flick did not want to give anything away regarding his lineup for earning the third victory in Europe on Wednesday 5 November, as he said “Everyone who travelled might play”.
The countdown to the game in Bruges has begun. There is an appetite for this Champions League game and Flick was all smiles given how the team has improved.
