Lidl brings back ‘mystery boxes’ containing £100 of goods for £20

Lidl is again offering ‘mystery boxes’ containing up to £100 worth of middle aisle products for £20.

A limited run of 1,500 of the boxes is to go on sale at 10am this Friday on a website where Lidl has set a countdown timer.

Ordering online for home delivery is the only way to secure one of the boxes, with none to land in stores.

Lidl staged a similar online sale of 1,000 mystery boxes in August last year, and all of them sold out “almost immediately” according to the discounter. It prompted some disappointed customers to take to social media to air frustration.

The boxes, which trended on social media, were “stuffed full of weird and wonderful Middle of Lidl items, from coffee machines to ukuleles, goggles, crochet kits, massage guns and more”, the supermarket said.

The new batch is Lidl’s latest dabble in online flash sales, after two earlier this year on TikTok, first of high-protein bundles in February and then Dubai chocolate in March. Both sold out in minutes, with orders fulfilled by Evri.
