Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed again

Rockstar Games has delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 for the second time. Previously scheduled for a May 2026 release, the studio’s highly anticipated open-world crime epic is now scheduled to arrive on Nov. 19, 2026, Rockstar Games has announced.
Rockstar announced the latest GTA 6 delay on Thursday, just ahead of publisher Take-Two Interactive’s earnings, noting that an additional six months of development time “will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
Here’s the studio’s statement:
Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.
We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally slated for release sometime in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but was pushed out to 2026 back in May.
Another delay for GTA 6 isn’t much of a surprise, however; Rockstar is also known for its perfectionism and is pitching GTA 6 as “the largest game launch in history,” with a day-one audience of millions of players worldwide. Rockstar has a history of delaying its big games, including marquee titles like Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
That said, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said as recently as August that his “level of conviction is very, very high” regarding GTA 6‘s May 2026 release date. Given that, pencil in GTA 6‘s new November 2026 release date. Or use a dry-erase marker.
