South Lake Tahoe City Council floats changing city seal

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California (KOLO) – The South Lake Tahoe City Council discussed changing the city seal.

Council member Scott Robbins called for a change to the seal, taking issue with the dotted line through the middle of Lake Tahoe, and proposing that it go diagonal at the end.

Robbins says this would better reflect the true state lines. It would be the first it has changed since 1966.

The proposal elicited an emotional response from South Lake Tahoe City Clerk Susan Blankenship, who called for the preservation of the original seal.

“The city seal has stood as a link between our pass and present. it has marked every chapter of our city’s history, sorry, and remains a powerful emblem of who we are,” Blankenship said.

The item passed 3-0 and will come back for final passage at the Nov. 18th meeting.
