Fifth Xinjiang Special Forestry and Fruit Products Expo to Boost Market in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

Next week in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, the Fifth China Xinjiang Special Forestry and Fruit Products Expo is set to commence, aiming to broaden the market for high-quality forest and fruit specialty products from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
At a recent news conference, Zhang Dongsheng, the deputy director general of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region government, highlighted the expo’s significance in establishing Xinjiang as a major supply base for key agricultural and livestock products across the country. He also emphasized its potential to foster social stability and promote economic development in the region.
Xinjiang, which boasts a total forest and fruit cultivation area of approximately 1.33 million hectares, is projected to produce 14 million metric tons of fruit by 2025. The region leads the nation in the production of jujubes, grapes, apricots, and almonds, solidifying its position as a crucial player in the agricultural sector.
Moreover, Zhang noted that Xinjiang’s range of processed products has diversified significantly, aided by enhancements in cold chain logistics and marketing systems. He described the region’s forest and fruit industry as a burgeoning green enterprise, with extensive coverage, substantial developmental potential, and significant benefits for local farmers’ incomes.

The expo will take place at the exhibition halls of the China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, from November 14 to 16. Over 300 exhibitors from Xinjiang will showcase a variety of products, including unique forest and fruit offerings, agricultural and livestock goods, as well as refined and deeply processed items. The event is expected to attract more than 400 procurement officers.
For the first time, the expo will also feature over 50 products connected to desert farming, floriculture, and the Chinese medicinal materials industry, highlighting the diverse growth within Xinjiang’s forestry and grass industry. Zhang stated that the expo aims to facilitate multi-party collaborations, business negotiations, and signing agreements, ultimately working to expand the market for Xinjiang’s premium forest and specialty products in the Greater Bay Area and reinforce the region’s status as a vital national supplier of agricultural and livestock goods.
