Robbie Williams Announces Intimate UK Shows, Revives ’90s TV Show The Word For Pretty Face Video

Robbie Williams has revived the ’90s late-night variety show The Word for the video for Pretty Face.

The guitar-led track dropped last month as the latest preview of the former Take That member’s new album, ‘BRITPOP’, due out on February 6 via Columbia Records.

The grainy, retro-style video, directed by Charlie Lightening, recreates a stage performance on The Word, which ran on Channel 4 from 1990 to 1995, with Williams in the iconic red tracksuit top and bleached hair he wore at Glastonbury Festival in 1995. He said:

“This is my “DeLorean Moment” back to 1995 .. The Word was the late-night gateway to so many – Nirvana, Oasis, Happy Mondays… If ‘BRITPOP’ is the album I would have made, then THIS would have been the TV show…. now a (virtual) reality.”

Singles already shared from ‘BRITPOP’ include Human featuring Mexican sibling duo Jesse & Joy, Spies, Pocket Rocket, Rocket, a collaboration with Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi, and Desire with Laura Pausini, the latter doubling as the Official FIFA Anthem.

Williams will accompany the record’s release with a series of shows at intimate venues in Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Wolverhampton, billed as The Long 90’s Tour, between February 4 and 9. The performances will see him perform his debut album, ‘Life Thru A Lens’, and ‘BRITPOP’, in full, which he did at his smallest ever ticketed show in London last month.

Fans who pre-order ‘BRITPOP’ from the singer’s online store will get early access to tickets, which go on general sale on November 28.
