With the Celebrity Traitors coming to an end after nine iconic and hilarious episodes, fans craving more deception and drama won’t have long to wait – the Irish edition of The Traitors is heading to BBC iPlayer this month.

The BBC has officially acquired The Traitors: Ireland for BBC Three and iPlayer, with the series launching in November 2025, shortly after the Celebrity Traitors finishes.

Originally airing on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player, the Irish version has already proved to be a massive hit. Hosted by Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney, the show brings all the backstabbing, strategy and suspense that fans have come to love from the franchise.

Unlike the UK version, which is filmed in Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, the series was filmed at Slane Castle on the banks of the River Boyne.

The series sees 24 contestants play the ultimate game of trust and betrayal in a bid to win up to €50,000, all while the secret Traitors plot to eliminate the Faithful and claim the prize for themselves.

The debut season drew impressive viewing figures in Ireland. Across its 12-episode run, The Traitors: Ireland averaged a massive 557,000 live and same day viewers with a 50 per cent audience share.

On RTÉ Player, it has been streamed over 3.7 million times, with catch-up audiences further boosting its popularity adding an average of 140,000 viewers per episode.

Fans in the UK were unable to watch the show during its original broadcast, as RTÉ One and RTÉ Player aren’t available outside Ireland. However with its arrival on BBC iPlayer, UK viewers will now get the chance to experience the Irish twist on the hit global show.

While the BBC hasn’t yet confirmed an exact release date, the series is expected to drop on iPlayer sometime in November.

In the meantime, eager fans can still access the series early by using a VPN set to Ireland to watch it via RTÉ Player.

And if that’s still not enough to satisfy fans, there are around 20 international versions of The Traitors to enjoy, including editions from the US, Australia, Belgium and Canada, as well as many others, offering fans plenty of chances to get their fix.

The American, Australian and New Zealand editions are available to stream now for free on BBC iPlayer.

The Celebrity Traitors comes to an end tonight at 9pm on BBC One and fans are eagerly waiting to see who takes on the win.

Traitors Cat Burns and Alan Carr are battling for the £100,000 prize, while Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olosuga fight to expose them before it’s too late and take home the prize for their chosen charity. All will be revealed tonight.
