The Dispatch has live coverage of Ohio State vs. Purdue in Week 11 of the college football season.
Ohio State football began the week learning that it would be the top overall seed in the College Football Playoff if the season were to be finished this week.
The top-seeded Buckeyes now look to end the week with their ninth win of the season following a trip out to West Lafayette to take on Purdue.
Ohio State and Purdue will kick off at 1 p.m. ET at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday, Nov. 8 โ the first 1 p.m. ET kickoff of the season for the Buckeyes, a staple for the noon ET and Fox “Big Noon Saturday” window over the year.
The first-year Boilermakers coach jumped right into the scheduling debate this summer by calling out the schoolโs biggest rival, Indiana. He learned the nuances of the Shillelagh Trophy game against Notre Dame and the Cannon Trophy game against Illinois, and this week heโs getting briefed on the Boilermakers surprising success against Ohio State.
Now Odom is using those courses as the teacher for a roster that has few players who have suited up against the Buckeyes.
โItโs such a big game for a number of reasons. You go back and look historically at some of the successes Purdue has had in this game and you want to be used in as many ways as you can for your program,โ Odom said. โItโs our job to teach, to continue to work to those (goals) and to teach our team.โ
The record shows Purdue has beaten a ranked Buckeyes team eight times โ four times when they were in the Top Five. That includes an embarrassing 49-20 blowout loss in 2018, one of coach Urban Meyerโs worst at Ohio State. Twenty-five years ago, Purdueโs win over the Buckeyes helped propel them to a Big Ten title.
What better way than doing it against the No. 1 team in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the year? The Buckeyes have to stay focused, go out and perform, and show everyone what it has so far this year, and we’ll be there for it.

The Buckeyes are 8-0 behind their high-powered offense and stout defense. Quarterback Julian Sayin is already over the 2,000-yard mark for the season with Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate both over 700 yards as well.
At 2-7, Purdue is just looking to get a Big Ten win and avoid falling to 0-7 in conference play.
