Strictly Come Dancing fans ‘couldn’t help’ but see another couple in Karen Carney and Carlos Gu routine

The pair were among the 10 remaining couples to take part in week six of the BBC One dance contest

Strictly Come Dancing fans were seemingly distracted as they ‘couldn’t help’ but see another couple during Karen Carney and Carlos Gu’s latest impressive performance.

The pair were among the 10 remaining couples in the competition to take part in week six of the BBC One dance contest on Saturday night (November 1).

It maked the show’s Halloween special, with the show opening with a skit featuring presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly running away from the celebrity dancers, who had turned into zombies.

But it wasn’t until later in the night that former Lioness Karen and dancer Carlos took to the dance floor with their Peaky Blinders-inspired Argentine tango to Red Right Hand by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds.

The pair impressed the judges, as they received a near-perfect 38 points for their routine, putting them just behind actor Lewis Cope and his professional partner Katya Jones who achieved the first 40 of the 2025 series.

But back to Karen, and judge Anton Du Beke said the dance “was extraordinarily good”, while head judge Shirley Ballas told the former footballer that she “absolutely smashed the choreography”.

Karen, who donned a waistcoat and baker boy cap, said she was “buzzing” after the performance and revealed that Peaky Blinders was her favourite show.

But some Strictly fans appeared distracted, as they couldn’t help but think of former Strictly finalists Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell who performed an Argentine Tango to the same song during the 2018 series.

@alanahisrugby added: “All i could think about watching karen and carlos’s argentine tango to red right hand is joe sugg and dianne buswell’s argentine tango to the same song where we first saw their proper chemistry. I have watched that dance approximately 1000 times since i was 14 #Strictly.”
