The hit BBC One dancing competition has once again returned to screens this weekend as the show reaches its halfway point. As the couples take to the stage once again, another person is set to leave on Sunday evening.

It came as a surprise last weekend, when viewers said goodbye to Ellie Goldstein and her professional partner, Vito Coppola, who found themselves in a dance-off with Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.

Ellie became a firm favourite during her time on the show, but ultimately, the judges opted to save the EastEnders actress, marking an end to her Strictly Come Dancing journey.

Fans will also remember the series’ first impressive and perfect score of 40, which was given to Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope and his professional dancing partner, Katya Jones, last weekend.

Tonight’s instalment (November 8) marks week seven, and opening the show were Lewis and Katya. Within moments, fans branded Lewis as their “winner”, describing his dancing like “Patrick Swayze” as they were distracted by his hips.

One person wrote on X: “It will be a 10 for me, I loved that from Katya and Lewis.”

Another said, “Patrick Swayze vibes coming from Lewis, so good.”

A third added: “Lewis is undefeatable for me, just crown him already!”

A fourth commented: “Lewis has reached the level where you have to stop and think who in the couple is the professional and who is the contestant as they dance.”

Commenting on his hips, one person wrote: “I’m in love with the Lewis hips.”

Another said: “Lewis and them hips! Ooo la laaa.”

One fan echoed: “I’m in love with Lewis…. and his swivelly hips!!”

The judges were also impressed with Lewis’s Cha Cha dance. Shirley Ballas said the performance was “so well balanced”, adding: “You did a grand job”.

Anton went on to brand it as “absolutely brilliant”, stating: “You do everything so well.”

Despite Craig Horwood criticising Lewis’ performance for a lack of “fluidity”, he did, however, praise the star’s hips. The judge said: “Those hips, my love, were on fire.”

The performance to ‘I Like It Like That’ earned them an impressive score of 35, setting the bar high for the remaining couples. Fans also took to social media to declare that their new winners were Lewis and Katya, whom they believed would lift the Glitterball trophy in a matter of weeks.

Strictly Come Dancing returns Sunday, November 9 on BBC One.
