How Ultan Kelm and Erne Gaels can outshine Kingscourt Stars in Ulster SFC showdown

Erne Gaels’ Ultan Kelm scores his side’s Fermanagh Final replay victory over Derrygonnelly Harps
Erne Gaels confront Kingscourt Stars in an Ulster Club SFC Quarter-Final at Breffni Park, Cavan on Saturday day (5.30pm).
Skipper Ultan Kelm has helped his side progress into the last eight of the Ulster series and he is anxious to see his players turn on the style against a Kingscourt side that is an amalgam of experience and youth.
Kelm’s brothers Aogan and Oisin are also key components within the Beleek side and their work-rate and scoring ability will be important factors.
They will have vital roles to play against a Kingscourt side which is particularly hungry to make an impact in the Provincial Championship especially now that their Belleek opponents have won two Fermanagh titles on the trot.
The Cavan side boast an outstanding figure in Jordan Morris whose finishing skills have had much to do with the Stars’ arrival in the Ulster club series. But they are far from being a one-man attacking machine. In Joe Dillon, Kevin Curtis, Barry Tully and Cormac McAvinney the Kingscourt outfit have very capable players while goalkeeper Cian Shekleton is an extremely astute custodian.
The Erne Gaels will need to get into their stride early and maintain the heat if they are to make it into the last four.
No one is more aware of this than Ultan Kelm himself who has been in fine form to date. Shane Rooney, Tommy McCaffrey and Seamus Ryder are other key members of the side.
Ryan Lyons is a creative force in the middle third of the field and is capable of mounting counter attacks that can often unsettle opponents.
Kingscourt are well aware that they will have to make their scoring chances count particularly as the match progresses given the form which Erne Gaels have been showing lately.
Meanwhile, Monaghan’s Scotstown take Naomh Conaill from Donegalon Sunday (Clones, 1.30pm).
