First Alert: Tracking more overnight showers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – We’re continuing to track lingering showers and storms today. Most of us will remain dry throughout most of your Saturday, with the next wave of moisture making its way into the area tonight. The big story next week will be the arrival of an arctic chill, with temperatures running well below normal, both during the day and at night. But overnight lows can cause us to get our first widespread freeze of the season.
We might have started the morning with some patchy fog, but we traded that in for sunshine during the afternoon. Due to the sunshine heat will rise as we move throughout the day, with temperatures maxing out in the upper 70s – lower 80s. We will have a mix of sun and clouds today, with clouds increasing as the night settles in.
Another front will move quickly through the state late Saturday into Sunday, bringing a low-end chance for additional showers and storms overnight and into Sunday morning.

Once the front passes, much colder air will settle in. We’re giving another First Alert for a significant drop in temperatures next week.
Cooler, drier air will surge into the state late Sunday, with daytime highs falling into the 50s and overnight lows dropping into the 20s and 30s by early next week.
