The opportunity to back a team on a six-game winning streak as handicap underdogs should be taken when the New England Patriots visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers have done well to overcome a host of injuries and sit on top of the NFC South at 6-2 as they try to win the division for a fifth season in succession, while the Patriots have exceeded expectations in getting to the top of their division ahead of the 6-2 Buffalo Bills.
Half of the Patriots’ six recent wins have come against the other three NFC South teams including last week’s 24-23 victory over the Falcons when they gave their fans a fright after leading 21-7 in the first half.
A missed extra point by Atlanta let them off the hook on that occasion, but they covered the handicap in the other five recent wins and the last time they were made underdogs they beat the Bills 23-20.
The Buccaneers lost 24-9 to the Lions in Week Seven but got back on track before last week’s bye with a comfortable win over the struggling Saints. They are still missing wide receiver Mike Evans and running back Bucky Irving is unlikely to be back this week.
The Patriots are a perfect 4-0 on the road this year after going 2-7 away from Gillette Stadium in 2024 and offer better value on the handicap.
