It was all yellow! Candlelit church Coldplay concert enjoyed by 500 visitors

A church was lit up all ‘Yellow’ during a candlelit concert when 500 visitors enjoyed a classical tribute to a chart topping band.
Coldplay by Candlelight took place at St Mary and St Nicolas Church in Spalding. It was organised by Lumos, who host candlelit concerts across the UK.
The well-attended event had three sittings of musical arrangements of Coldplay songs in a magical acoustic setting performed by a string trio.

“The church is the most significant heritage building in the town and we are trying more to use it for external events.”
A small events team at the church helped man the bars during the concert and provided refreshments.
The vicar and his family are settling well into the area and the congregation is growing in numbers and diversity.

“It is true to say that the church has been treading water for a long time.
“Bridging the deficit is always a challenge and there is a lot to be done.”
