First snowfall of the season expected in Greater Cincinnati as temperatures plunge Sunday

Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and other city officials speak to the media to announce new operations and plans to handle snow in the winter months.

Some of the first snowfall of the season is possible in Greater Cincinnati Sunday night into Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The weather service says snow showers could result in very light accumulation in places the night of Sunday, Nov. 9.

Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the day Nov. 9, with a forecast low of 25 degrees.

The mix of rain and snow showers is expected before 10 p.m., before picking up again after 3 a.m. Less than half an inch of snow is possible, the weather service says.

Going into Nov. 10, snow showers are expected to result in light accumulations, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. Snow showers are expected mainly before 2 p.m. Minor travel impacts are possible during the morning commute.

New snow of 1 to 2 inches is possible during the day. Snow showers are possible again between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. that night, bringing in less than half an inch of snow, the weather service says.

It will be a chilly and slightly breezy start to the week. The high temperature for Nov. 10 is 36 degrees and the low will be 24 degrees. Winds will vary between 7 to 13 mph.

The weather service says it will warm up again toward the end of the week, with daytime temperatures in the 60s for the weekend.

Cincinnati detailed 7-day forecast

Sunday: A chance of showers, mainly before 4 p.m. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 40. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 10 p.m., then a chance of snow showers after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday: Snow showers, mainly before 2 p.m. High near 36. West wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday night: A chance of snow showers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 MPH.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 58.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 33.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 64.
