Report: Giants fire head coach Daboll midway through fourth season at the helm

After losing their fourth consecutive game to drop to 2-8, the New York Giants have made a significant change. Per multiple reports, the Giants have fired head coach Brian Daboll, midway through his fourth season leading the team.
Per reports, Mike Kafka has been chosen as the interim head coach moving forward.
The Giants suffered a deflating loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday as they watched a 20-10 lead evaporate in the final four minutes of action. Daboll, 50, finishes his stint as head coach of the Giants at 20-40-1.
Daboll’s tenure in New York started with promise – after four years as offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills (where the team ranked top-5 in scoring in his final two seasons), Daboll appeared to energize the Giants offence in his first year there.
New York went 9-7-1 to qualify for the playoffs and defeated the Minnesota Vikings on the road in the Wild-Card round, while former sixth-overall pick Daniel Jones had perhaps the best season of his career, throwing for a career-high 3,205 yards and just five interceptions. He also set career bests in rushing yards (708) and rushing touchdowns (seven).
Daboll was unable to maintain that momentum moving forward, as the Giants fell to 6-11 in his second season before bottoming out a year ago with a 3-14 record.
This season, with a new rookie quarterback in Jaxson Dart and an encouraging rookie running back in Cam Skattebo, the Giants still struggled to find positive results, and after a 2-8 starts for the third consecutive season, the Giants brass decided it was time for a change.
More to come.
