Why does Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon wear a headset on sidelines?

Most NFL owners usually watch their teams play from a luxury box or, sometimes, from the sidelines.

But not Carlie Irsay-Gordon, who is now the owner of the Indianapolis Colts after the death of her father, Jim Irsay. This season, she’s been spotted on the Colts’ sidelines with a pad and pen in hand, along with headphones or a headset.

What’s with that? As she explained recently, listening in to the coaches during games has helped her learn so much about the team top to bottom — where “tweaks” need to be made, if coaches or players are the ones making mistakes and so on.

That’s fantastic! More owners should do this. How else do you know how things are going with your team?
