Dulles Airport people-mover involved in crash while preparing to dock, authorities say

DULLES, Va. (7News) — A people mover vehicle at Dulles International Airport was involved in a crash while preparing to bring passengers back to a gate, sending 18 people to the hospital, according to airport officials.
The mobile lounge at around 4:30 p.m. was moving passengers from an arriving flight to Concourse D when it struck the building dock at an angle, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Eighteen people were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, while others were evaluated by Airports Authority Fire and Rescue officials, according to a spokesperson.
There were roughly 50 people onboard the people-mover at the time, according to dispatch audio from Broadcastify.
An airport spokesperson said operations are normal.
The iconic People-Mover’s are frequently used by passengers for international flights.
